Rhine River
Warum ist es am Rhein so schön?

A photo essay on the Rhine river based on the classic photo book "Menschen am Rhein" by Chargesheimer from the 1960s.

A lot has changed on the Rhine since then. Perhaps not so much the people, but definitely the famous "circumstances". Cologne is no longer the same city as the German writer and Nobel Prize winner Heinrich Böll described it - and Rhine shipping has also somehow become more "modern"...

This work "Warum ist es am Rhein so schön?" (Why is it so beautiful along the Rhine?) was granted with the Gabriel-Gruener-Scholarship.
